With two teenage sons, Dirk and Corrie Wolfert immigrated to
Canada from Holland with their hopes and dreams of farming.
Arriving in January of
1982, starting off with 50 acres of land and a 1000 sq/ft barn, packing
the onions and potatoes they grew. Loading the bushels of produce on
the back of an old Chevy pick-up, off to the weekly markets in Stouffville,
and Elmvale, Ontario.
By 1986, with farming proving to be in their blood, the Wolferts
started selling daily at the Ontario Food Terminal in Toronto, Ontario.
Onions and
carrots were now included in their packaging plant, which had expanded to
30,000 sq/ft.
With their strong work ethic and commitment to quality, Wolferts produce
had become more and more in demand by their local customers. By 1995 Wolferts
Farm was not only distributing their products in Ontario, but also exporting
to the United States.
By
January 2000, Wolferts Farms had expanded to a 100,000
sq/ft facility which included packaging of carrots, onions,
beets, parsnips and mini-carrots, for wholesale or retail.
With our new state of the art hydro-coolers and packaging plant,
Wolferts Farm can keep efficiently providing their customers
in Canada and the USA, with number one quality products.
